Quiet Strength – "How Sebastian supports me in everyday life with ME/CFS"
Sasha (26) lives with ME/CFS, Matthias is the accompanying person. Sasha tells how Sebastian helped to create structures without overwhelming – and how this gives both of them room to breathe again.
"Quiet Strength"
I'm Sasha, 26, and I don't use pronouns. ME/CFS has made my life small, often in ways that aren't outwardly apparent. It's not just "bad days." It's this constant weighing: What's possible today – and what will derail me tomorrow. Sometimes just a little too much talking, a quick call, standing for a few minutes too long is enough. Then comes this crash, as if someone pulled the plug. And the feeling of chasing after your own body because it has rules that no one sees.Matthias is my partner and has caught so much. But eventually, you realize: friendship alone doesn't replace strength, can't replace strength. It drains energy to constantly organize, reassure, hope that it won't tip over this time. And it makes you lonely when you constantly have to explain why "just a moment" isn't just a moment. Then Sebastian came as a daily helper. And what was different from the start: Sebastian didn't want to "motivate" me, but to understand. No pushing, no "you just have to...". Instead: calm. Clarity. A pace that suits my body. Sebastian doesn't ask five things at once, but one. Waits. And if I notice it's too much, it's not a drama, but simply a stop.Sebastian helps me with exactly the things that otherwise feel like obstacles: preparing food, sorting laundry, taking out the trash, doing small errands, organizing documents. Things that sound trivial but quickly become too much for me. When brain fog comes and I'm searching for words or can't concentrate, Sebastian remains calm. Then "We'll get this done now" becomes "Today we'll only take the first step." And sometimes that's the complete salvation.
"Don't achieve everything - but breathe again"
The best part isn't that everything suddenly becomes easy. That would be a lie. The best part is this feeling of no longer fighting against everyday life alone. Sebastian brings structure without pressure. Matthias gets a breather because not everything hangs on one person anymore. And I have those small moments back that had disappeared before: a cup of tea without a guilty conscience, a quiet conversation, a short step outside – or simply the knowledge that someone is there who understands if it's not possible today. What I particularly appreciate about Sebastian: there are no nosy questions, no pity, no impatience. Only respect. And that rare kind of warmth that isn't loud, but stays. Sebastian didn't give me my old life back. But Sebastian gave me something back that I had almost forgotten: dignity in everyday life. And the prospect that even with ME/CFS, things are possible again – not big, but something.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our services.
01
How do you plan everyday help with ME/CFS to avoid a crash?
In ME/CFS, even minor physical or mental activity can trigger a significant worsening of symptoms (often delayed) – this intolerance to exertion is often described as Post-Exertional Malaise (PEM). Therefore, we plan support in a way that respects your limits: small steps instead of "all at once," clear breaks, minimal sensory overload, and a pace you can stop at any time. The goal is stability in daily life, not performance enhancement. Checklists often help to structure and plan daily organization.
02
What exactly does everyday help with ME/CFS entail – and how do we decide what needs to be done today?
We focus on what noticeably relieves your daily life without overwhelming you. Typical examples include: preparing food, sorting laundry, taking out the trash, doing small shopping trips, or organizing documents. We prioritize together: What is currently blocking you the most? What prevents stress or overload in the coming days? If you have fluctuating daily conditions, the plan will be flexibly adjusted: rather a clear "first step" than too big a goal.
03
What happens if brain fog is present or I have difficulty concentrating?
Then communication is deliberately kept simple: one question at a time, short agreements, no multiple assignments. If you search for words or slow down, it will not be judged but accepted as part of the situation. We can also agree on stop signals (e.g., a word or hand signal) so that you can stop or pause without explanation. This reduces pressure and helps ensure that support does not become a burden itself.
04
How can an associated person be involved without everything being left to them?
If you wish, we will involve an associated person (e.g., partner, friend, chosen family) in such a way that they are relieved rather than having to bear additional coordination. Practically, this means: clear roles (who decides what?), clear information channels (what can be shared?), and clear boundaries (what remains private?). This way, your associated person can "breathe a sigh of relief" because not everything needs to be organized and intercepted anymore – and you still maintain control over pace, content, and privacy.
